Road Train Operator

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to work both in a team and autonomously and possess a strong work ethic. Company policies and safety regulations will need to be adhered to at all times.

The position is a diverse role and will involve varied duties including working within a mine site, travelling to various remote locations involving long distance journeys and nights away, labouring and other adhoc tasks.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • MC truck license with specific road train experience
  • Forklift licence and experience
  • Dangerous goods license
  • Maritime Security Clearance (or willingness to obtain immediately)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in road train operations
  • Proven track record of solid experience in remote driving and long distance haulage
  • Experience in load restraints and transportation of oversize goods
  • Experience with side tipper, float and general freight work
  • Proven track record of high safety focus
  • Positive outlook and flexible attitude in working in diverse role and taking on adhoc tasks  within mine site environment, remote areas, long distance and underground assignments
  • Proven track record of maintaining a high standard of quality and safety.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Mine site work, including element of labouring
  • Remote and long distance travel with overnight stays
  • Oversize work
  • Load restraints
  • Basic roadside mechanical work (including changing of own tyres)

The successful applicant will need to pass the medical requirements for this role and undertake relevant inductions.

This is a DIDO position located in Olympic Dam, camp is provided however local residents are encouraged to apply.

It is a prerequisite for the preferred candidate for this role to undergo a criminal background check.
