HC Drivers – Melbourne

Skyroad Logistics is based in Brisbane with operational sites in Sydney and Melbourne.

We are now seeking Full Time and Casual linehaul drivers, based in Melbourne (Tullamarine), for our highly specified fleet with contract services to airlines and freight forwarders.

Reporting:

The roles report to our National Transport Supervisor and second level to our Director of Customer Operations.

Requirements:

We are seeking drivers with experience in air cargo operations and in particular express time cutoff road transport. You must be self-reliant and able to manage your rest breaks to fit in with customer schedules while complying with BFM fatigue legislation.

You must have:

  • a HC Licence with Eaton open class endorsement
  • BFM certificate or willing to obtain your BFM at your cost as soon as possible
  • Forklift ticket (or be prepared to gain your forklift ticket within a month of starting)
  • clear criminal history for passing Federal Police criminal history checks to gain an ASIC pass which we will pay for
  • current driver medical
  • driver licence report showing less than 6 demerit points
  • recent references from an employer or from customers

Local and Linehaul

The primary focus of the role is interstate line haul driving however there will be a requirement to undertake local PUD work from time to time.

Your Workplace:

We have a new prime mover fleet comprising K200s with 615hp Cummins Signature engines and 18 speed manual transmissions. All trucks are towing new single Tautliner trailers setup for specialised loading and unloading.

Day to Day:

  • Receive instructions for loading
  • Load where necessary
  • Fill in all paperwork, conduct checks, and use our TMS systems to ensure consignments are correctly handled
  • Keep truck and trailer clean and neat at all times
  • Drive truck and trailer in a safe and fuel efficient manner meeting time schedules
  • Report and manage safety issues under your influence and control
  • Follow freight protocols whether air cargo, special loads, or general freight
  • Be prepared to work a schedule including weekends between MEL, SYD, BNE, ADL, and PER where required (includes some two up jobs for hotshots including Perth)
